Corvette Z03 Concept

Using the Corvette Z06 as a foundation, Dutch design house “Ugur Sahin Design” penned an extreme version of the American sports car dressed in an attractive carbon fiber body. The Corvette Z03 is one of the first projects to come from Ugur Sahin Design which was formed by Axel van Mourik and Ugur Sahin in the summer of 2007.

According to “Ugur Sahin Design”, the Corvette Z03 features a series of mechanical upgrades including three engine packages which range from 500 to 750 HP. Unlike many other renderings that we see from time to time, the two co-owners of the Dutch company are planning to put the Corvette Z03 into a limited edition run of 100 units by the end of the year. Pipe dreaming or reality? Who knows, only time can tell. -Continued

IF-Mode by Mark Sanders for AREAWARE

IF-Mode - An Engineering and Design Masterpiece The IF-Mode, by acclaimed industrial designer Mark Sanders, is now available for purchase in the USA. Winner of the 2008 Eurobike Award, and the 2009 iF Gold Award (along with the Apple iPhone, the Macbook Air and the VW Golf Mk6), the IF-Mode is a rolling, folding work of art and a bike collector’s dream machine.

The clean and striking IF Mode (Bike Weight: 14.7 kg)is aimed at commuters of the mobile generation who, until now, may have not considered cycling or folding bikes to be an option. IF Mode avoids oily chains, complex tubes with hidden dirt traps, and the clutter of traditional bike features. Meant for city commuters rather than bicycle warriors, it looks at home folded up on a subway or in an office, like other well designed accessories in your life. It also performs on the street like any lightweight, well-balanced full size bike.

Mark Sander's Design Brief:

Most people prefer large wheeled bikes, in part due to ease of pedaling. So when I designed the IF-Mode, I thought about combining the benefits of small folders with full size bicycles, keeping in mind the innovation and value people expect from their personal tools. The IF Mode combines large wheels, ease of near instant folding, compactness, and clean design. Like luggage, it rolls anywhere. Its monoblade wheel mountings, enclosed transmission and uncluttered aesthetic offer a radical new image of what a bicycle can be.

.MGX and Renault's Car of the Future This year, .MGX made two significant contributions to the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. First, through a creative partnership with Arik Levy at the Swarovski Crystal Palace and secondly, but no less importantly, through a collaboration with the car manufacturer Renault. The Ondelios, Renault’s environmentally friendly, high-end cross-over concept car, produced in collaboration with .MGX, was on display from April 22 to 27th in Milan at via Tortona 35, as part of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, complimented by a flock of .MGX design objects, including the new Tulip.MGX and Torus.MGX lights and the Wye.MGX table.

The Ondelios, designed for lovers of long-haul travel who set store by comfort and refinement, was inspired by nature and the way it solves problems with elegance. The .MGX design team and cutting-edge technologies enabled Renault to understand these natural processes in relation to creating structures. This vision can be seen clearly in the car’s ethereal design, interior layout and original hybrid powertrain. In addition to providing inspiration, .MGX techniques were used to produce a number of specific elements for the car, including the dashboard and roof, which emphasize the vehicle’s airy look and feel and in the case of the latter, bathes the interior in natural light.

"Most cars are designed to express power, speed or the amount of money the driver has on his bank account. Our concept vehicle has a maximum speed of 130 km/h, can carry 6 passengers and their luggage, and burns only 4 litres of fuel per 100 km thanks to our hybrid technology and aerodynamic efficiency… Our design has been led by efficiency, simplicity, fluidity, and our wish to create new forms for a new breed of car… We think that a car is like a downsized home that can move. It’s micro architecture… We imagine that Ondelios’s drivers own .MGX products and will want to bring brands such as .MGX into their ‘mobile lounges’", says Stephane Janin, Director, Concept Cars, Renault.
